Abstract :
The scattering of TM (transverse magnetic) plane electromagnetic waves by dielectric cylinders is considered, and a novel weighted point-matching technique is proposed to make the matrix involved in the integral-equation formulation a symmetric matrix. Applying the Cholesky decomposition, this symmetrization allows the solution of the matrix equations with roughly half the storage and half the computation time as compared to those for asymmetrical ones. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the procedure.<>
