Abstract :
An approximate yet accurate model for the coaxial feed that does not require a physically small cell is described and verified. The model is illustrated for a cylindrical monopole; the rotational symmetry is not exploited, and rectangular FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) cells are used in the space surrounding the antenna. A comparison of results for the approximate model with those for an experimentally verified, full model is presented. The agreement between the two sets of results is seen to be very good.<>
