Abstract :
In this study an attempt is made to introduce the use of quasi-coherent continuous phase modulated (CPM) signals with MFSK modulation in a frequency hopping (FH) environment where the use of coherent reception is difficult due to the unknown phase of the carrier. The reference carrier is obtained through the use of few pilot symbols or reference symbols which eliminates the need of accurate phase synchronization circuitry. The performance of the proposed method is compared with the performances of theoretical coherent and noncoherent systems. The results obtained state that given sufficient number of pilot symbols the performance of the quasi-coherent system is close to that of a coherent system
