Abstract
We conducted an experiment using a car with experimental instruments to investigate drivers´ behavior when entering a non-signalized intersection without right of way. We compared the negotiation patterns of skilled drivers and unskilled drivers at non-signalized intersections. We found differences in the position where a driver stopped at an intersection and the number of times that a driver looked left and right. We evaluated both drivers´ negotiation patterns when entering an intersection from the viewpoint of safe driving by simulation. Based on the simulation results, we propose a way to improve the negotiation pattern of a driver without right of way.
