  • Abstract
    LIDAR, a well known tool for remote sensing of the atmosphere, has not yet migrated into a large commercial market. Currently it is not affordable for most potential users such as small companies and environmental authorities. The simulation study was performed in order to check the feasibility of a low cost system that overcomes hindrances of the wide spread use of this environmental sensing technology. The new system should be able to measure profiles of aerosols and molecules within a few seconds to several minutes depending on the required spatial resolution and the background light conditions
