Abstract
Delay-Tolerant Networks (DTNs) are special types of network environments that are subject to delays and disruptions. Most research efforts in DTN routing focus on the problem of intermittent connections, but few focus on the problem of network congestion. Data delivery rate would largely degrade if the network is under congestion. In this paper, we propose a suite of strategies to defend a DTN routing protocol against different congestion conditions. Our proposed mechanism can be applied to any routing protocols that are based on the concept of quota replication. Experimental results show the superiority of this kind of congestion control over existing types presently in use.
