Abstract :
A VCO at 10GHz using the transformer-based LC tank in 0.18mum CMOS technology is designed. The LC tank is realized employing the drain-gate transformer feedback configuration. To apply to the pmos and nmos feedback path, two 2-port transformers are used. The 2-port transformer has symmetric structure and can be connected to enhance the quality factor of LC resonator. The simulated phase noise is -115dBc/Hz at the offset of 1MHz. The tuning range of 2.1GHz is achieved with the control voltage from 0V to 1.8V
