  • Abstract
A low-cost ultra-wide band see-through-wall imaging radar system was designed and implemented and has been used to assess common simplifying assumptions in its microwave imaging reconstruction. The typical simplifying assumption, it is assumed no mutual couplings exist between the array elements and no cross polarizations arise from the antennas, through wall propagation, or from the target itself. In this paper, we present our newly developed SAR system and experimentally investigate the effects of the two assumptions and said impact on radar imaging.
