Abstract
The multiple scattering of waves by a half space of distributed discrete scatterers is analyzed under Foldy´s approximation by using the modified T-matrix approach. Two equations in a simple and clear form are obtained for determining the effective propagation constant and the transmission coefficient of the coherent field as the scatterers are identical spheres. It is shown that, in the low-frequency limit and sparse distributions of scatterers, the solutions reduce to the well-known results of L. Tsang and J.A. Kong (1980).<>
