Abstract
Structural changes in the α-phase of poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVDF) due to poling have been investigated. Besides the conversion of the nonpolar α-phase into the polar αp-phase, a change of the orientation state is observed. The effects can be separated. Conclusions are drawn regarding the molecular mechanism of polarization
