Abstract :
In this paper, finding the optimal coordination of ramp metering and variable speed limits in a large-scale freeway traffic network is the main subject. The model predictive control is applied to the case study. In this approach as the number of controlled inputs increases, the computational complexities increase exponentially. This could make the real-time implementation unfeasible. The game-theoretic model is employed to solve this problem. The algorithm is scalable to a real large-scale network with high accuracy. The parallel computation nature of the algorithm results in finding the optimal plans over the rolling horizon in a short time. The presented simulations demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
