  • Abstract
Based on fire cases of casualties in assembly occupancies from 1979 to 2009, this paper made statistical analysis on the factors of fire cases, such as overall situation, fire occurrence time and regions, the causes, alarm time, firefighters taking part, genders, identities, direct death reasons and specific ages of the casualties. According to the statistical analysis of fire cases, this paper summarized the main reasons resulting in casualties, they are human factors, fire alarm delays, weak awareness of fire safety, poor ability of life saving and fire fighting. In view of the main reasons, combining with fire controlling and fighting practice, this paper proposed measures to decrease casualties in assembly occupancies. Firstly, enhance nationwide fire controlling and fighting education to strengthen life-saving ability. Secondly, improve fire alarm ability in different ways. Thirdly, strengthen the construction of urban firefighting equipment. Fourthly, increase supervision and make strict control of human factors to cause fire. Finally, strengthen fire controlling and fighting force and the construction of firefighting army.
