Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a micro fuel cell power management circuit design for portable devices. The circuit combines two power sources, fuel cell for our main power supply and lithium-ion battery for backup power, and the whole power system is well managed. The whole circuit design has been approved by HSPICE with TSMC 0.35μm 2P4M 5V CMOS process. Simulation results show that the circuit can provide the output current of 149mA-232mA. The output voltage is 3.6V-3.64V when input voltage is located in range of 3.87V-5V. The total number of transistors is 83 and the size of chip is 1.58mm×1.25mm. The power consumption is 1.51W when load is 20pF.
