Abstract
A general 2-D problem of electromagnetic scattering from a conducting cylinder loaded by multiple cavity-backed slots is formulated in terms of an integral equation for the equivalent magnetic currents on the slots, which is numerically solved by the method of moments where pseudo-images are used. The formulation is applied to take account of the transverse electric (TE) scattering from some scale models, for which a series of experiments has been conducted in an anechoic chamber. Excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental results outside the resonant frequency is obtained. The experimental results near resonant frequency show that a clear reduction of backscattering radar cross section (RCS) is achieved by means of purely reactive loading such as multiple cavity-backed slots.<>
