Abstract
The power requirements of a space-based radar (SBR) spacecraft are examined. Design considerations are discussed, and a baseline prime power system, generating about 30 kW, is described. The generic SBR and baseline power requirements have been derived from considerations of spacecraft payload power and the radar operating conditions and from a parametric model for sizing the power system. The proposed distribution network would transmit 240 V at 20 kHz. The voltage would be downconverted in one power converter for about 100 transmit/receive modules. Power distribution and onboard power management and control are discussed, and critical technologies are identified
