Abstract :
This paper reports on the development of a new training procedure for the improvement of physical and cognitive activity. This training procedure has been inspired by the toy, Gator Slan, and has a useful role in the training of cognition, judgment and physical movement. Nine patients with left hemiplegia and unilateral spatial neglect were studied. Training was conducted once a day for 5 days, and session times were 3 minutes. Numbers of correct strikes, mean reaction time from the appearance of the target until it is hit, and hits and mean reaction time for individual targets were analyzed. Results of the line erase tests before and after the training showed that numbers of errors decreased. The result indicated that the improvement of physical and cognitive activity could be observed. This training procedure has a useful role in the rehabilitation of patients with unilateral spatial neglect
