Title :
Use of relational database on the health and Radon case-control study

Abstract :
The Radon Study is a case-control study of 775 cases and 1125 controls. It will reconstruct the adult life residential history of each subject. When the study was conceived, it was evident that the data required would be extensive and complex; a relational database management system (DBMS) was needed. Because of prior experience with Ingres, it was chosen. Additional software to support telephone interviewing in a real-time system was developed and interfaced with Ingres. The current hardware configuration includes a Microvax II running VMS; it has 6 MB of memory and 200 MB of hard disk. All software has been ported to an Everex 386 and a Sun 386i, each running PC Ingres DBMS
