Abstract :
Make overall evaluation on the feasibility of applying PPPs in Chinese subway projects by extensive literature review on past studies and obtained expert-opinion in the paper. Appraise whether PPP is an appropriate candidate provision scheme for subway infrastructures in China, and take the argumentations from two internal factors: economic attributes of subway infrastructures and operational characteristics of subway projects; and two external factors: which crucial preconditions of implementing PPP have been met, potential benefits and restrictions of adopting PPP in Chinese subway projects. It can be concluded that PPP is a feasible option for the Chinese governments in subway construction projects compared with the unsustainable traditional complete public provision scheme. The Chinese governments must be aware of the latent challenges confronted by them when recognizing the benefits produced by adopting PPP schemes in subways.
