Abstract :
The US Environmental Protection Agency´s Health Effects Research Laboratory´s (HERLs) mortality database contains all cancer death records for 1950-61, all death records for 1962-87, and population data by country, race, sex, and age for 1950-87. This work has three main objectives: to identify problems in managing large spatial and temporal population and health databases; to use the population and cancer mortality database at HERL to illustrate problems and solutions; and to point out other areas where the proposed solutions are applicable
