Abstract
The electronics and microcontroller software which comprise the electrohydraulic total artificial heart (EHTAH) are described. The power, communication, control and monitoring (PCCM) subsystem consists of an external controller (IBM PC), a transcutaneous transmission system (TTS), an internal electronic system, and energy converters (composed of motors and axial flow pumps). Software for the external controller is described in addition to the firmware for the internal controller microcontrollers
