  • Abstract
This paper introduces a model of the information flows in Laboratory Information Management (LIM) of Universities, serving as the basis for understanding the role of standards in LIM support systems. Support of LIM requires a set of complementary and interoperable standards that cover the full range of aspects of the laboratory management. The paper identifies a common standard of laboratory management information, which can ensure management data flowing orderly and increase the utilization efficiency of information resources. A case study illustrating the construction of LIM standards in Ningbo University is presented, which is the foundation of information exchange and sharing among many management systems of colleges´ departments. The background of campus information and the construction of information standard including the organization, function division and scientific researches are analyzed, in which the most important were standard principles and methodology.
