Abstract :
Heterogeneous multi-core architectures of System- on-Chip can support various embedded real-time applications well. We put forward a novel system level design approach in embedded stream media process SoC using application profiling for mapping embedded stream media applications to heterogeneous SoC architecture. Application profiling can find the critical codes in application program, such as loop and function, which are the key contributions to the performance of SoC. The execution information about these critical codes can direct for architecture design, task partitioning, and co-compiler optimization in SoC system level design. The results of experiments on mediabench heterogeneous embedded stream media applications show that our approach improves the quality and efficiency of SoC design.
