Abstract :
An attempt is made to look at National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70-1987) ground-fault protection (GEP) requirements in light of various risk factors. The author evaluates the risk factors related to arcing ground-faults and the possibility of nuisance tripping on critical feeders. The adequacy of state-of-the-art ground-fault protection equipment is examined. Emphasis is on applications to process industries and health-care facilities
