R&D issues associated with applications, software and baseband of UMTS terminals

We consider the R&D issues associated with a UMTS terminal´s baseband, applications and software. We focus on the baseband and use PA´s UMTS demonstrator as an example. We conclude that much of the research has been completed for UMTS baseband and software, and it is now time to focus on the development to meet the launch schedule. The applications, and technology to support them, still tends to require more research
