Abstract
The relation between jointing condition and interface microcavity generation was investigated for extrusion molded joints (EMJs) for XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) cable. In addition, the relation between jointing condition and water generation in the cable´s reheated part was studied for the purpose of finding the optimum jointing condition that does not degrade electrical characteristics. Ways to eliminate microcavities on the interface and extra-long bow-tie trees in the middle layer of the reheated part have been investigated
