Abstract
Utilization of error-correction coding scheme in contemporary communication system enhances sufficient redundancy which in turn increases the immunity to deal with the channel impairments. Proper adjustment of interleaver size and iteration leads to considerable improvement in BER performance of Turbo code under AWGN channel condition. In this paper, an optimized Asymmetric Turbo code has been proposed to improve BER performance ominously both in “waterfall” and “error-floor” regions using Cuckoo Search algorithm. The Recursive Systematic Convolutional (RSC) encoder with different poly2trellis has been used to demonstrate the improvement in BER characteristics both in low as well as high SNR regions. Moreover, the variation of BER values with the block lengths of the code has also been observed. Finally, the BER performance of the proposed Cuckoo-Search (CS) optimized Asymmetric Turbo code has been compared with conventional as well as Harmony Search (HS) optimized Asymmetric Turbo Code.
