Abstract :
A prototype hybrid energy system consisting of a diesel-alternator operating in parallel with a battery-inverter has been assembled and tested. The controller is based on a single-chip microprocessor and is designed to optimize the operation of the system. Management of the system is based on current system status as well as system constants. The theory behind the operation of the system and the development of the control software are described, and some of the results obtained with the prototype system are presented
