Abstract
We report on large-core, Yb-doped photonic crystal fibers used in gain-staged optical pulse amplifiers to generate ~ 1 ns pulses that simultaneously exhibit multi-MW peak power, multi-mJ pulse energy, near-diffraction-limited beam quality, and narrow spectral linewidth
