Title :
Spatial and temporal stability of an N-core evanescently coupled fiber amplifier ring
Abstract :
This work extends previous spatial stability analysis of an N-element ring-shaped amplifier array to include both time and position dependence. Coupled-mode equations the fields and populations are solved in steady state for the N supermodes, providing simple expressions for the gain, power, and propagation constants for each supermode. The technique then followed is to consider the time evolution of an arbitrary but small perturbation added to any one of the supermode solutions
