  • Abstract
IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) ia an architectural framework suitable for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), where users can access any multimedia services ubiquitously from any (wireless or wireline) devices. IMS offers network and service providers a great flexibility and scalability to provide a wide range of modern telecommunication services. This paper addresses our experiences in deploying a small-size IMS test-bed for laboratory purposes and draws attention to some implementation issues regarding the functionality of the IMS framework, which is in our case based on the Fraunhofer FOKUS´s OpenIMSCore. We study the behaviour of the system for Click-to-Dial and Video on Demand (VoD) services by capturing and analyzing packets of the communication sessions. We also investigate system interoperability with non-IMS clients.
