  • Abstract
Intelligent oilfield systems are a new technology in the energy industry. The Brazilian energy company, Petrobras introduced theirs, called SOLAR, two years ago. The original user interface design was meant to be simple and easy to use by many employees but, the system is used by various engineers, each with different tasks. As the system quickly grew to accommodate requests for different functionalities it became cluttered and complex. The authors redesigned the interface using a human-centered approach. The new design is intended to decrease the amount of effort used to complete tasks and increase the number of users.
