Abstract :
Spontaneous emission of light stimulated by temperature change of vacuum-evaporated crystalline layers of n-isopropylcarbazole (NIPC) has been studied between 100 and 300 K. A theoretical model is presented and the temperature evolution of the luminescence is derived, including the effects of electrical discharge. Exceeding the strength threshold and stress/temperature-induced phase transitions of microcrystallites are assumed to be the physical mechanisms responsible for the cracking
