Abstract :
The influence of optical pumping and detection rates on the cesium beam frequency standard is evaluated. It is shown that pumping and detection parameters have a large impact on cavity-phase-dependent and second-order Doppler effect frequency shifts. A supplementary parameter is needed in order to evaluate the error budget of the optical operated clock. Variations in the pumping conditions, such as laser intensity, should be avoided since they will be converted into frequency fluctuations.<>
