Abstract
Monitoring, communication and controlling are the main systems which can transform the conventional grid into the Smart Grid. Numeric meter, Availability Based Tariff (ABT) meter is the most important parameter of the Smart Grid. By giving incentives for enhancing input capacity of power generation it enables more consumer load to be met during the peak hours. (ABT) controls the frequency and ensures minimum unscheduled interchange (UI) price. Fault location is the potential application of the numeric meter. The real time Disturbance Report of numeric meter along with the recording of voltage and current is mentioned. This paper illustrates the components of communication infrastructure in Smart Grid. Internet Protocol (IP) based hierarchies are detailed. The comparison between existing grid and the grid after incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is explained. Also, this paper will give the guidelines about how to establish a connection between Client-Server through a Java psudocode.
