Abstract :
The basic principles, design, and testing of a magnetic field sensor based on an electrically small loop are reported. A sensor comprising a single-turn loop, current transformer, and broadband amplifier was modeled using the SPICE simulation program. A sensor was designed to operate from approximately 5 kHz to 100 MHz. It consists of a square loop with a total length of 24 cm and a wire diameter of 1.3 mm. The ferrite transformer has mu =850, n=25. The computer simulation and test results are presented and are in good agreement.<>
