Abstract
Fast transients generated by a simulated nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP) are investigated. The characteristics of a 100-kV, 10-ns pulse generator and the behavior of the electric and magnetic fields surrounding a 1-m*2-m*2-m parallel-plate simulator are described in detail. The theoretical and measured coupling of a transient EMP field to monopoles is discussed.<>
