Abstract
The paper aims to reduce the computational times of Monte Carlo 3G radio network planning tools using variance reduction methods. We introduce two different methods of variance reduction: importance sampling (IS) and optimally stratified survey (OSS). Results using each method are presented and we show that computational times can be reduced for a given precision. Recommendations for using each method are given. These results are of utmost importance to facilitate operator´s 3G network optimization and design tasks.
