Abstract :
The authors present a novel principle for the reproduction of the phase-shift angle (PSA) between two electrical signals (voltages, currents, etc.) in a wide frequency range. This approach enables one to specify angles with a discreteness of 0.001-0.0001 degrees a at frequencies of 100 kHz and 1, 10, 20, and 30 MHz within the angle range of 0-360 degrees . The principle is based on the method of superdeep frequency division in two channels (by a factor of 10/sup 7/-10/sup 8/) in a decade structure of direct frequency synthesis. The basic theoretical relations of the method, calculations for the preferred variant, and an experimental error study are presented. In the USSR, this principle was used to design the state PSA standard for the frequency range of 10/sup -2/ Hz to 30 MHz with the PSA range of 0-360 degrees in 1988.<>
