Abstract
The superconducting phenomenon is briefly explained. The historical background to superconductivity research is presented, and the discovery of high-temperature superconductors is described. Possible application of superconductors in the aerospace field is discussed. Problems connected with the use of superconductors are briefly discussed, with emphasis on failures at the interconnect point.<>
