Abstract :
A three-chip VHF-UHF TV tuner system has been implemented with a 0.7- mu m MESFET GaAs technology. The system, based on the double frequency conversion method, consists of an up-converter (IF/sub 1/=1.9 GHz), a smoothing filter, and an image rejection down-converter (IF/sub 2/=35 MHz). The system exhibits 30 dB of conversion gain and 70 dB of image-frequency rejection throughout the VHF-UHF band.<>
