Abstract :
Cross-Layer design for WiMAX Systems can realize the highest usage of network resources and manage quality of service (QoS) guarantees. We present a Cross-Layer design that involves the transport layer, the data link layer and the physical layer to optimize the WiMAX resource scheduling mechanism. At the same time, we obtain the optimum number of the maximum retransmission attempts in Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) protocols ,which maximizes the spectral efficiency while maintaining the required performance such as delay and PER. Then simulation proves in physical layer the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) used in conjunction with HARQ is the most suitable scheme for WiMAX Systems.
