Title :
Dynamic simulation of static VAr compensators in distribution systems
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
A system study guide for the correction of voltage dips due to large motor startups with static VAr compensators (SVCs) is presented. The method utilizes time simulations, which are an important aid in the equipment design and specification. The process of setting up a computer model and performing time simulations is illustrated. The study process is demonstrated through an example, the Shawnee feeder in the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation service area
