Abstract :
The site attenuations of open-area test site are calculated by the method of electromotive force, and the cause of a characteristic hump in the site attenuation curve below 80 MHz is explained. The deviation between the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) site attenuations and the experimental results on an ideal open area test site at these frequencies was found to be due to the mutual coupling effects of the antennas under the FCC´s measurement conditions. Therefore, it is recommended that the theoretical site attenuation curves below 80 MHz given by FCC´s OET-55 measurement conditions be revised.<>
