Abstract
In this paper, a new way of making a multiband metamaterial inspired antenna is investigated. Magnetic coupling between a half-loop antenna and one SRR (Split Ring Resonators) cell induces multiple resonance frequencies. The fundamental resonance is relative to the SRR resonance frequency. Then the resonance of the resulting antenna could be shifted down by 77% by adding one SRR cell to a half-loop antenna. The second and the third resonances respectively related to the coupling effect and to the operating frequency of the half-loop antenna are also studied and analyzed.
