Abstract
A review of the application of an individual current limiting fuse on pole-type distribution transformers is given. Current limiting fuses were originally applied at pole-type transformer locations for the sole purpose of limiting the pressure buildup in the tank due to a high current internal fault. Through specific examples, additional operating advantages are discussed, such as fault differentiation and the easier upstream device coordination available today, due to significant improvements in pole-type distribution transformer device options
