Abstract
ANSI Standard C57.12.28 Pad-Mounted Equipment-Enclosure Integrity, for product integrity, issued in 1988, pulled together most of the previous requirements from various sources on product integrity. This standard covers primarily two areas of enclosure integrity, security and coating system. The security section contains 10 areas defining construction, many of which were covered to some extent in the specific transformer standards. However, there was a key area added to this standard that describes how the test of enclosure integrity should be performed and the tools with which to do the test. The influences on transformer enclosure design, especially those related to product integrity, are discussed
