Abstract
Delay-constrained video applications have stringent bandwidth, delay and loss requirements, which is a great challenge to support such real-time applications in wireless ad hoc networks. In this paper, to minimize the distortion of video received at the decoder, we propose a cross layer design (CLD) approach which combines the network layer and MAC layer to meet the stringent requirements by dynamically accommodating its routing decisions to the network conditions such as the available resource, network congestion and channel quality. Under the cross layer framework, we implement a dynamic optimized multi-path routing scheme to balance video traffics over multiple paths, reasonably assign the link capacity, effectively allocate the traffic and select the optimal transmission path. Simulation results validate the the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
