Abstract :
A two-dimensional simulation of a microstrip resonator with a protective layer in contact with a multilayered lossy media is presented, which makes it possible to obtain the complex resonant frequency, i.e. the resonant frequency and the Q factor of the structure. The analysis is based on the two-dimensional spectral domain approach. This modeling approach constitutes a numerical simulation tool for determining the limits of validity of a simple transmission line model which can be implemented on a desktop computer. A comparison with experiment shows that the proposed method improves a previously presented one-dimensional modeling approach.<>
