Abstract :
TCP protocol generally suffers from poor performance and network unfairness problems over multi-hop ad hoc networks. As designed for wired networks only, the legacy TCP always induces the over-reaction of network failure and hurts the quality of end-to-end connection in ad hoc networks. In this case, improvements have been proposed in the literature to help TCP to be aware of the different types of losses. This paper focuses on simulation study of the TCP performance over multi-hop wireless mobile ad hoc networks, based on the existing TCP implementations, such as TCP-NewReno and TCP-FeW. Our research shows that the TCP-FeW scheme outperforms TCP-NewReno in terms of throughput, while its congestion window and end-to-end delay remains much smaller than the latter.
