Abstract :
Connection admission control is an effective mechanism to guarantee resilient, efficient, and Quality of Service (QoS) in IEEE 802.16e wireless mobile networks. In this paper, we discuss the QoS issue in IEEE 802.16e wireless networks and develop an admission control mechanism for services defined in IEEE 802.16e specifications. This mechanism provides the highest priority for Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS) flows and maximizes the bandwidth utilization by bandwidth borrowing and degradation. A queuing analytical framework for this admission control scheme is presented. The formulae for the significant performance metrics connection blocking probability, bandwidth utilization and transmission capacity are developed. Numerical investigations are presented to demonstrate the interaction between key parameters and performance metrics.
